can you feel the heat baby?

This weekend while the husband was busy cheffin’ up breakfast quiches for us to eat all week (ham, peppers and onions – yum!), I did my part to encourage the behaviour by sewing up a pair of manly oven mitts for him. Black and red with skulls from the stash seemed rather fitting.

I used the Too Hot to Handle pattern from my much-used Denyse Schmidt Quilts book. In the ‘use what you have’ vein, they’re made with doubled Warm and Natural cotton batting instead of thermal batting, but the Husband has asbestos fingers anyway and never seems to feel the heat. I think I see many more pairs of these for my brothers and the father-in-law. Time to dig out the Red Sox fabric!

Nice work! And let me tell you how jealous I am that your man makes quiche while you sew. Sounds like a definite keeper.

I have been itching to get myself into sewing, and for some reason these mitts clinched it! I LOVE them and if I can find some NHL type fabrics, my hubby is gonna be wanting a set of his own =)

Those oven mitts are so sexy! Even sexier is the fact that your man makes quiche! I’m jealous.

That pattern is totally on my list. I found some fun vintage pillowcases at the thrift store and will be using those. I had thought about them for housewarming gifts, but hadn’t thought about using them for the men in my life. Great idea!

This is an awesome idea for the hubby since I never make him anything, yet he watches me slave over projects for every single other person on earth.
And to spin off of Maryse’s post — perhaps a set of Royals mitts would do well around the grill. He’s a hopeless KC fan. Sad man.
