When I began thinking about the photo shoot for the Crape Myrtle socks I had some great plans. I thought I would drape them over a Crape Myrtle branch to better show the likenesses in colour and the hint of green in the yarn. (No such luck, the blooms are all off the trees.) I thought I might do a fifth position relevé in the dark green of our lawn to highlight the winedark purple and brown. (No such luck again as Austin is in a drought and our lawn looks like straw.) Since Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating with my creativity at all, we have the last WIP photo at the airport in Austin, the photo taken on the plane the instant they were finished and the boring FO-posed-on-white-poster-board shot.

Crape Myrtle Socks

Yarn: A few yards shy of one hank of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in Vera
Needles: Size 1 US Inox DPNs
Started: Beginning of July
Finished: Beginning of August, somewhere over West Texas

Gorgeous! Love the colorway… similar to the chocolate cherry Susan A/W just gifted me.

I think Houston still has Crape Myrtle blooms…ummm…send the socks to me and I’ll take a photo. Can’t guarantee that I’d send ’em back, tho.

Lordy, lordy, do I love these! But I can’t help it, they still look like cosmopolitan ice cream to me. I suspect that says WAY more about me than the yarn, but there it is.

they look fab! i think you’re inspiring me to tackle my first pair of socks. maybe…..;)
it’s funny because we have crape myrtle’s all over the neighborhood and every time i see one in the dark pink i think of you.

Great socks! I love the colorway and the pattern you chose. And the pictures are great too, despite the fact that Mother Nature seemed to be working against you. :)
