central park hoodie
Pattern: Central Park Hoodie by Heather Lodinsky for KnitScene.
Yarn: 7 skeins of Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran in colour 032.
Needles: Size 8 US (5.0mm) Bamboo
Size: 44″. I wasn’t quite spot on gauge, so I knit the 44″ knowing it would work out to a 46″ finished product. I was in between sizes anyway, so that worked out well with no math adjustments to be made.
Started: December 29th, 2007
Finished: February 9th, 2008
Modifications:
I knit the body about an inch longer than written and the arms about 3 inches longer. My sweaters have to reach my knuckles otherwise I’ll constantly be pulling on the sleeves.
I knit the hood as written, but I kitchenered the seam up the middle. The button band was to be knit in two sections and seamed at the top to match the hood, but I just picked up and knit it all at the same time on two long circs.
Final Verdict: It’s a little shloompier than I’d like. If I were to make it again, I’d definitely add in some waist shaping. As it is, it’s kicking hot to wear, so it will end up being more of a jacket type thing than just a cardigan.

I really like it! if I ever get around to making one, I think I’ll remember what you said here and add waist shaping! it looks great
It looks great! I really like your yarn.
It looks GREAT! Love the color especially…
I don’t knit, but I just had to tell you how great your hoodie looks. That is quite a project, and you did such an awesome job! Woo-Hoo! It’s so fun to finish a project, isn’t it?
I think it looks great on you!!
Way to go! I’m jealous. There I said it.
It looks great. Tell me, did you at any point feel it might be to small around? Stupid me had that feeling and still kept going. Now, if I try to use the buttons I have, it gaps like a mofo.. So it’s Zipper for me. While I wouldn’t ALWAYS wear it closed, I’d like to be able to when I need it, and I’d like it to look reasonable, too.
Beautiful! That close up button shot excites me to no end
It really came out nice and looks so good on you.
I think it looks great! I too will refer back to you about waist shaping when I get around to knitting this.
Super pretty- that first pic is too cute. Happy sweater photos!
Beautiful! Love the color, and it looks great on you.
gorgeous! i’ve loved that button close-up since you posted it on flickr.
love the tweed, the fit and the mods you made. great job!
Oh, wow, great job! I’m totally digging the yarn and the buttons. Good idea on the hood and button band. My CPH is finally cast-on and I think I’ll follow your tip on the hood/band because it makes sense.
I love this! It looks fantastic on you!
I think I’ll steal your button band idea too! Thanks!!
Your CPH looks great. I am going to knit my 2nd one soon, and I will be adding more length too.
I think it looks lovely.
What a beautiful color you chose.
Excellent work on the CPH, and your hair looks pretty fab, too. (Length, color and cut.)
Great job! I love the color.
You’re encouraging me to get the lead out!
Looks great-I am also making the 44. Almost have the back finished.
Your CPH looks awesome!
Awesome!! The CPH is my absolute favorite pattern!! So comfy and perfect to wear anywhere!
Great job!
It looks fabulous on you! And it isn’t black or brown!
Love it!
everything about it is just perfect.
beautiful work, again!
Super cute! It’s such a great pattern, and it looks great on you.
It looks great! It also seems to fit beautifully, despite what you said about it being schlumpy. I’m just finishing up the button band on mine now. Mine is pretty snug, and though I did not add waist shaping, it clings nicely.
That is sooooo gorgeous! It’s blinkin’ perfect!! Congratulations.
It looks fabulous on you! Thanks for the hint on the waist shaping – when I get around to knitting it, I’ll hopefully remember that. It still looks great on you though and very nice overall.
It looks great! Love it.
It’s beautiful! That blue looks great on you.
Another great FO, Caro! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
so great! i bet you will get a lot of wear out of this one!!
Another beautiful sweater! It looks great on you Caro! Awesome knitting!
This turned out so great – you photographs are beautiful as well!
hooray!
Gorgeous! This has been on my ‘to do’ list for a year [or more]!
Holy wow and crap!! That is an amazing sweater – so much detail and the button placket?! Sheesh, Caro – you really went all out.
Of course, I see this and go, “I should totally knit a sweater. I would feel like a superhero when I finished it. Like I could rule the world.” But then I remember what a short attention span theater kind of gal I am and go back to my pedicure socks and cowls. I don’t even have the patience to knit toes or hoods for godssake!
Anyway – your sweater is really beautiful and what about your hair? Is that your natural color? Sheesh. Purty.
Everytime I see a photo of a completed CPH I want one more and more, but yours is especially tempting. It’s a gorgeous colour and looks great on you.
Great work! It looks so warm and comfortable.
beautiful! it looks great!
Looks awesome. Great job…..It must look kicking with a pair of jeans!
looks fabulous on you, Caro!
I love it!! I’m the same way with my sleeves, they have to at LEAST be in the center of my palms.
It looks fabulous! You’ve inspired me. And my daughter, Kandis, she wants me to make her one now, so, Wall of Cascade, here I come! It’s amazing, this sweater looks good one every single person I have seen it on – it’s like magic.
So cute on you!
I can’t believe I haven’t commented here, yet. Maybe I only did on Flickr. Anyway, I love it and only hope one day mine will look this great!!
It’s gorgeous and it looks super cozy. Nice work!
Frickin’ gorgeous! Wow. You and I kind-of look alike.
