quilt guilding
Maritza sent me a link a few months back to a modern quilting guild that was just starting up in New England. Conveniently the first meeting was held at my favourite local fabric store, Fabric Corner, so I went along to suss it out. I’m not one for big formal meetings (and these aren’t, really) but I love to get together with other sewists and gab about fabric and tools and such.
The newly formed New England Modern Quilting Guild just had its third meeting in Portsmouth, NH at the Portsmouth Fabric Company. The shop is jam packed with colour and delicious fabrics which is very very hard when you’re trying to destash. I resisted buying any quilting cottons but I may have accidentally bought some Echino for the shop.
Like with any quilting guild, the best part is the show and tell.
I’ll be honest here, I was very good and wrote notes about who made what and with which fabrics so that I could blog it when I got home. On the hour drive back to the house, I rolled down the windows and cranked the tunes. Unfortunately the wind whipped into my purse, picked up the paper with the notes, whirled it around my head for a few panicky seconds and then sucked it right out the window to meet its death on the I-95. So that being said, enjoy the photos and pretend like I know who made what.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 5th. Join us!

Seeing the stuff always makes me want to learn!! gorgeous. (and I like that orange coat next to the fabrics….)
wow. these are all gorgeous. I need to make a quilt….
Your photos are amazing! You even made me not look hideous in a photograph, which is a feat of technical skill and creative genius. Thanks for posting these!
I’m sorry I missed it! Great photos, and looks like it was a lot of fun! Glad the next meeting is coming back to Arlington.
Caro, your photos are amazing…it was great to meet a fellow Buffy fan
