Last Wednesday Stitchy McYarnpants and I took the day off and drove two hours out to Northampton for a visit to Webs and to guest star on the Ready, Set, Knit podcast. Stitchy was as cool as a cucumber but I was admittedly a little nervous.  Sure, I’d done the whole Uncommon Threads TV thing and had been ok with that, but for some reason I was full of butterflies. I really shouldn’t have been worried, because 1) I know Stitchy really well and she’d cut me off and cover for me if I said something dumb, 2) It’s not like there’s 90 million people listening to WHMP (the host radio station in Northampton.) It’s Northampton! How big could it be? And 3) I know Kathy from Webs and she’s completely lovely and approachable and she wouldn’t have wanted us to fail either. So where did the butterflies come in? I’m not sure but all I know is that I was nervous.

As it turns out it was easy. And totally fun. We didn’t swear, I didn’t burp and my stomach didn’t rumble so loud that the mic could hear it like when we recorded for Uncommon Threads.  (Maybe that’s where part of the nerves came in. When we were shooting before lunch on one of the Uncommon Threads episodes, I was absolutely starving and while Alison Whitlock was talking my stomach went GROWWWWWWWL and we had to stop and reshoot the whole segment. I still have nightmares about that. The sound guy said it was like my digestive system had been mic’ed. Whoops!)

Anyway, we had a great time recording the podcast and we got to gush about some of the sweaters and the designers. You can listen to the podcast here on the Ready Set Knit blog or look it up in iTunes. Our half of the show starts around the 15:30 ish mark if you want to cut right to the Knitting It Old School part.

The other exciting part of the trip to Northampton was to finalize some of the details for our upcoming trunk show and signing at Webs! We’ll be there Saturday, October 9th from 11 AM til 2 PM. If you’re in the area, please come say hi! We’ll have all the Knitting it Old School sweaters with us for folks to try on and there will be plenty of books on hand in case you haven’t picked one up yet.  The event is free, but I think Webs would love for you to RSVP so they know what sort of crowd to prepare for.  You can do that from the website or on Facebook.

Please join us! (Don’t make me be nervous that no one will show! I totally inherited the fuss gene from my mother, can you tell?)
