Rhinebeck roundup
Man, I love Rhinebeck weekend. There is just no better time to commune with online knitterly people than at the New York Sheep & Wool festival. The leaves are turning, the weather is cooler and there is so much wool around you’re almost warm by osmosis.
This year was a little different, since Stitchy McYarnpants and I spent most of our festival time in the Author Building signing copies of Knitting it Old School:
I missed seeing a few people (I’m looking at you, Heather!) but we had plenty of friends cruise by to say hi and get their books signed. We giggled and caused a few raucuses as we seem to do everywhere. One woman saw Stitchy and shouted, “STITCHY! I LOVE MOOSE KNUCKLE!” which caused the more proper folks at the Melanie Falick table to gasp. We had a great time though even though most of our neighbours were slightly more demure.
Miriam was signing copies of her book Twist and Knit across from us. Love that sweater she’s wearing:
Some folks brought their books with them. Karen in particular matched the book perfectly. I love purple and orange together something fierce:
We hit the Ravelry meetup on Saturday and ran across Thea of Baby Cocktails sporting her newly released pattern, Collins. (The green one is Collins, Erin is wearing Calvados, also a Baby Cocktails original)
and we had our first two Knitting it Old School FO in the wild sightings! Kirsty finished her Rally dress, which is Flint Knit Pam’s design:
And Pam wore her finished Cheeky Hot Pants: (designed by Marnie MacLean)
See? Doesn’t that look like heaps of fun? You should come next year. Stop thinking about it, just put it on the calendar!

Okay first of all, being demure = completely overrated. I’ve never been able to do it myself. I’m glad you guys managed to elicit some gasps. Or shall I say – illicit! Har har har.
And secondly, OH MY GOD THAT RALLY. I so wish I’d made that. I’m going to go find that thing on rav and fave the shit out of it.
That Cheeky Hot Pants photo is the definition of fabulous.
But really, who doesn’t love moose knuckle?
Rhinebeck was the awesomest this year.
I so loved that dress – and of course, Pam’s hot pants!
Thanks for that pic of Erin and I – it’s a good one, which I just may copy and save onto my rotating desktop collection
(although I may be pulling things a bit tight across her rack with my snuggly hug there….)
OMFG, I love that pic of Pam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
