it’s handmade, not homemade

A few weeks ago Bestitched mentioned an exchange she had with a coworker about a handknit skirt she was wearing. The coworker sneered something along the lines of, “aren’t you just the sweetest in your homemade clothes.”

stashdowned

Or is it stashed down?

At any rate, Stashdown 2010 was very very successful. Almost the entire stash of shop fabrics has been cut into pieces.

thursday shop update

I’ve scheduled a shop update for this Thursday, April 8th at 11:00 AM Eastern. This update will be entirely camera straps. So many camera straps that your eyes will bleed! Ok, no, not really, but I’ll have upwards of 50 straps finished by then and I’m listing them all.
Add it to your calendar:

I’ll have the new Orla straps,

that Houndstooth I can’t stop loving,

and the last of the Cheep! Cheeps!

There will also be the very last of the blue mods and a few new ones listed to wet your whistle.

boxbags o’ plenty

I love the weeks following a major fabric cutting frenzy. It seems like all I have to do is watch a couple episodes of something on Hulu and *poof, * I have a million things to put in the shop.

Well, maybe not a million, but there’s a whole heap of boxbags going up today at 1pm Eastern. If all goes well for the rest of the week, there should be a whack more listed on Friday.

I’m completely in love with this pink houndstooth. I should have some camera …

stash down

When things get quiet around here, it usually means I’m busy sewing for the shop. I’ll pop a DVD in the computer and without the distraction of flickr or twitter, I can get a tonne of fabric cut. A week of that means I’m not around online much, but I can get so much done you’d think I have a sweatshop team doing it all for me. True to form, I’ve been slowly repopulating the shop with boxbags and camera straps.

There’s some new colours and fabrics coming, including some that …

make mine matchy matchy

Things are back in swing in the Splityarn shop studio (ok, the basement) now that the new year is also in full swing. I’m diligently cutting and fusing the last of my remaining fabrics before allowing myself to pick out any new colours for Spring. The next couple months will have plenty of Scooters and Orla to go around, I assure you.

New for this year I’ve added custom listings for boxbags and camera straps. If you’ve got a chunk of fabric hanging around in your stash waiting to be turned …

back to the sewing machine

New boxbags are now up in the splityarn shop!

The Orla Kiely Abacus Flowers sold out in four (!!) minutes, but there are still heaps of others to go choose from. I’m going to try and whip up a few more of the Orlas this week, but I’m going to be sneaky about it and add them to the shop at random times. Keep your eye on the shop RSS feed if you’re not following me on Twitter to catch one.

always in progress

I know it’s been forever since the last shop update, but I promise there’s a good reason for it. Behind the scenes chez Splityarn it has been crazypants with fabric cutting and sewing.

Along with the next shop update, I’m also preparing for two events. The first I’ll be selling at is the Squam Art Workshop in New Hampshire on June 6th. You don’t have to be attending the workshops to come and play. In fact, there’s going to be a big ol’ Ravelry party that night too.

The second one I’m …
