Two years ago I cast on for a Tangled Yoke with the intention of giving it to my Mum for her birthday. I ran into a few issues with the pattern when I hit the sleeves and after the third time knitting the cuff, I put it in time out. It has been there ever since. After a little more research and some good quality anecdata, I decided two months ago to rip it. Of course the time between that decision and actually doing it can be huge, because that’s …

When things get quiet around here, it usually means I’m busy sewing for the shop. I’ll pop a DVD in the computer and without the distraction of flickr or twitter, I can get a tonne of fabric cut. A week of that means I’m not around online much, but I can get so much done you’d think I have a sweatshop team doing it all for me. True to form, I’ve been slowly repopulating the shop with boxbags and camera straps.
There’s some new colours and fabrics coming, including some that …

Before starting a project, there’s usually a swatch. A lovely piece of knitting that gets washed once (if it’s lucky) and then gets fondled and measured and then tossed aside when the real knitting begins. It always seems such a shame to have these wee squares of different sizes just laying about.
While doing a stash toss this weekend, I found a bag of gauge swatches from some of my earlier projects (some pre-blog even.) I snipped off the labels I’d so carefully attached and sewed them together on the sewing …
Most of this stuff hasn't even been in my stash all that long, I've just changed my mind about what I'm going to make in the coming year. All the details and yarns available are on my Ravelry trade/sell page.
You can't go to a sheep and wool festival without buying anything. Well, I suppose you can, but sometimes it's more fun to come home with a souvenir or seven. I went through a lot of the booths at Rhinebeck, but as the particularly rare breed of the non-stashing knitter that I am, I didn't get tempted by much.
I'm ALWAYS tempted by Brooks Farm and I indulged myself for the first time in two years since seeing them at Kid n Ewe in Texas. I've since knit up …
Well, JulieFrick does and I'm not one to tell her no.
The Husband and I are taking some much needed time off this week. After a hectic summer we're heading to Minneapolis to visit some pals and kick back for a few days. (I never thought I'd vacation in Minnesota, but at least it won't be as cold as the last time I was there.) As always, the tricky part of travelling is deciding what knitting to take.
Ms. SotoSofties and I went to Windsor Button on a yarn mission yesterday …

Along with the Tangled Yoke, there’s another knit that’s been sitting in my queue. I’d been hesitant to blog about it because this project has already broken the interweb once, but now that the pattern is for sale I won’t be contributing to the mania.
The Hello Yarn Fiddlehead Mittens Kit.
I almost don’t want to take the skeins out of their perfect little cardboard home. Gorgeous! I haven’t cast on yet, but it’s definitely in the works for this week. The Kit with the yarn is a little tricky to …
